September 2018

9/22/18 @ 9am – 3pm

Feminist Oasis at:

Women’s Empowerment Symposium (moderating panel) @ Discover Portsmouth

On September 22, 2018, Portsmouth Historical Society hosts the 2nd Gertrude Fiske Symposium. This Symposium is designed to build upon some of the social themes explored in our 2018 exhibition, Gertrude Fiske: American Master, and create a community conversation, reflecting on the Women’s Movement from First Wave to the present. In this symposium we have gathered a group of phenomenal women who have fought for their own rights and subsequently the rights of women everywhere. It is our goal to learn from them, engage with them, and ultimately be inspired by them to contribute to the advancement of the freedom and rights of all people.

9/26/18 @ 6 –7:30 pm

Feminist Oasis presents, in collaboration with Veris Wealth Partners and Alyssa F. Wright Consulting:

Feminist Finances — Giving & Investing with Intention @ Portsmouth

Learn how to leverage your philanthropy & portfolio to: empower women and girls, make lasting social change and bend the arc of finance towards equity.

Alison Pyott from Veris Wealth Partners and Alyssa Wright from Alyssa F. Wright Consulting bring their gender lens investing and social change movement expertise to this 90-minute workshop on feminist investing and philanthropy.

Portions of the proceeds of this event will go to Haven, celebrating their 40th anniversary 10/3 in Portsmouth. Among many other services, Haven provides basic financial literacy education, an often overlooked barrier to leaving abusive situations.
